The Life Magic skill deals in protection and a wide variety of effects based on the secondary attributes of Health, Stamina, and Mana.
Buffing[]
Life magic buffs can improve the natural armor, protection against the seven damage types, and regeneration of Health, Stamina, and Mana of the caster or target.
Self[]
Alternatives:
- Use loot armor, clothing, and jewelry, which can come with built-in life magic spells. These spells are activated with the Arcane Lore skill.
- Use quest Armor, Clothing, and Jewelry, which can come with built-in life magic spells. These spells are activated with a variety of skills, though the most common is arcane lore.
- Take advantage of the Natural Resistances by increasing your Endurance and Strength.
- Use the Crystal of Life Protections found in either the Whispering Blade Chapterhouse or Rossu Morta Chapterhouse, depending on your server.
- Use the Buffing Array found in Freebooter Keep or Northwatch Castle.
- Use Alchemy Gems. Gems can be crafted for all the life buffs, level III - VII.
- Find and use loot generated gems, which can come with built-in life magic buffs.
- Collect and use a variety of quest Gems, Potions and Food which have life buffing effects. This includes the gems from the Gift Box Quest, the lugian food from Captain K'rank's Errands, and miscellaneous items like the Gem of Black Fire and Pepper Jack Cheese.
- Have a friend, Alternative Character, or Buff Bot buff your attributes and skills.
Other[]
Alternatives:
- Give Alchemy Gems to others so they may consume them. Gems can be crafted for all the life buffs, level III - VII.
- Give use loot generated gems to others so they may consume them.
- Give and use a variety of quest Gems, Potions and Food which have life buffing effects to others so they may consume them. This includes the gems from the Gift Box Quest, the lugian food from Captain K'rank's Errands, and miscellaneous items like the Gem of Black Fire and Pepper Jack Cheese.
- Find and use loot generated orbs on other players, which can come with castable Regeneration, Rejuvenation, and Mana Renewal. These spells are activated with the Arcane Lore skill.
Debuffing[]
Life magic debuffs can worsen the natural armor, protection against the seven damage types, and regeneration of Health, Stamina, and Mana of the target.
Alternatives:
- Use Alchemical Throwing Phials. These phials mimic the effects of imperil, vulnerability spells, and fester. They require base Alchemy skill to wield.
- Use Gearcrafted Lenses. These lenses mimic the effects of imperl. They require base Assess Creature skill to wield.
- Use Princely Runed Weapons and Royal Runed Weapons. These weapon sets have a cast on strike Gossamer Flesh (Imperil VII) spell. Heavy Weapon users also have the similar Sword of Soroku and Assassin's Edge.
- Heavy Weapon users only: Use the Blessed Spear of the Mosswart Gods which has a cast on strike Decrepitude's Grasp (Fester VII).
- Finesse Weapon users only: Use Mi Krau-Li's Remastered Jitte, the Club of Surprising Cunning, or the Club of Remarkable Cunning. These weapons have cast on strike Bludgeoning Vulnerability Other VI, Bludgeoning Vulnerability Other VI, and Tusker's Gift, respectively.
- Finesse Weapon users only: Use the Enhanced Crystal Sword which has a cast on strike Piercing Vulnerability Other V.
- Use the Enhanced Dark Sorcerer's Phylactery which has a built in Decrepitude's Grasp spell. Note that the orb takes 250 Life Magic to activate - this can be achieved through the use of a Life Giver's Crystal.
- Note that while the Rift Orb (Tenebrous Rift) has a built-in Gossamer Flesh spell, the orb itself requires 350 Life Magic to activate, making this not an alternative to life magic.
No Alternatives:
- Without life magic, there is no way to mimic the effects of Exhaustion.
- Without life magic, there is no way to mimic the effects of Mana Depletion.
Secondary Attributes[]
Life magic can manipulate the Health, Stamina, and Mana of the caster or target in a number of ways:
- Through the use of Heal and Revitalize the caster can restore points of health or stamina to themselves or their target.
- Through the use of Harm, Enfeeble, and Mana Drain the caster can remove points of health, stamina, or mana from their target.
- Through the use of Infuse Health, Infuse Stamina, and Infuse Mana the caster can give a portion of their health, stamina, or mana to their target.
- Through the use of Drain Health, Drain Stamina, and Drain Mana the caster can steal a portion of their target's health, stamina, or mana and add it to their own.
- Through the use of six transfer spells, the caster can drain their own health, stamina, or mana, and restore one of the other two.
- Through the use of Martyr Bolts, the caster can drain a portion of their own health, stamina, or mana, and fire it as a bolt which will drain the target's health, stamina, or mana.
Self Restoration[]
Alternatives:
- Use Healing Kits, which require Healing skill. These kits only restore health.
- Use Trade Health Elixirs and Trade Mana Elixirs, which are crafted with Alchemy.
- Use Rations, which are crafted with Cooking.
- Use Mushroom Food, which is crafted with Cooking.
- Use a variety of other crafted, store bought, or quest Gems, Potions and Food which can restore health, stamina, and mana.
Other Restoration[]
Alternatives:
- Find and use loot generated orbs on other players, which can come with castable Heal, Revitalize, and Mana Boost. These spells are activated with the Arcane Lore skill.
- Use Healing Kits on others, which requires Healing skill. These kits only restore health.
- Give Trade Health Elixirs, Trade Mana Elixirs, Rations, Mushroom Food, or other Gems, Potions and Food to others so they may consume them.
No Alternatives:
- Without life magic, there is no way to mimic the effects of Infuse Health, Infuse Stamina, or Infuse Mana.
Management[]
Alternatives:
- Use Ulgrim's Casting Stein, which has a built in Stamina to Mana Self IV spell.
- Use Elysa's Wondrous Orb, which has a built in Health to Mana Self IV (35+ version) or Health to Mana Self III (0+ version).
No Alternatives:
- Without life magic, no transfer spells are available outside of the two listed on the casters above.
Damage[]
Alternatives:
- Use the Mucor Enhanced Weapons, which have a cast on strike spell Mucor Jolt, a harm-style spell.
No Alternatives:
- Without life magic, there are no ways to mimic a vast majority of the damaging life magic spells such as drains and martyr bolts.
